Gone are the days when you had to hire a graphic designer to make a good invitation. There are many apps in the market that allow you to create appealing invitations in a few clicks. But which one?
Whether you want to make an invitation for a birthday party, baby shower, or engagement, or for an upcoming festival. The invitation maker apps I’ve listed below can help you do them all without being a graphic designer.
The 7 Best Invitation Maker Apps for iOS [2024 Edition]
Say bye to boring text message invitations, because the apps listed below will help you create professional looking invitations without breaking a bank.
Throughout my search for these invitation-maker apps, I went through almost 20 to 30 different options out there, out of which I have shortlisted the seven best options for you.
1. Best App: INVYT
While I went through many apps and liked what they had to offer, Invyt was my top pick, and this was the one I ended up using to make my birthday invitations. I loved everything about this app, from the easily navigable UI and the soothing color scheme to the numerous customization options it had to offer.
Here is a detailed review of Invyt:
User Interface and Design
The UI and Design of Invyt is perhaps its strongest suit. There are scores of invitation-maker apps out there, but Invyt stands out because of the UI. From the moment I opened the app for the first time, everything was just in place for me to get started in a couple of taps. The color scheme of the app is also carefully designed.
One of the best ways to judge an app that is used to design invitations is by judging the very design of the app. After all, if designing is what you offer, your design needs to be good, and Invyt does that very well.
Why do I love the INVYT App?
The key highlight of this app is the fact that it offers you over 9000 templates to choose from and multiple different events for which you can design an invite. You can even create regular greeting cards, or even one for thanking someone or to apologize to someone. The app also allows you to create custom cards based on your specific needs.
Ease of Use
As we pointed out earlier, everything is very easy to use here. Invyt gets you started in a couple of clicks, and also lets you choose the occasion as well as the template in just a few taps. The accessibility of everything makes this app perfect even for first-time users.
Templates
So when I started looking for an app for making invitations, I was specifically looking for birthday templates. I was surprised when I came across Invyt as it features hundreds of options for birthday invitations.
Furthermore, the app boasts over 9000 different templates – where you can customize each of them to create unique combinations. There are templates for all functions and events, as well as other occasions such as to thank someone or apologize. If it still doesn’t fit your needs, you can create one from scratch too.
Customization Options
The app offers a ton of customization options. You can choose to edit out single elements or add more elements to the invitation. You can also choose to insert or remove text boxes wherever you want.
Furthermore, the app also lets you change the font, adjust colors, and change the alignment and the spacing of various elements – giving you full control over customization.
You can also create invites from scratch if you don’t like a preexisting template. If you have created a custom template that you think you are going to use later again, you can also save it or star it, allowing you to access it once again when you need it with ease.
Quality of Output
The invites that are generated using Invyt are all high-quality designs. I am a big fan of their customization options which allow me to make multiple changes to basic templates which gives the design my flavor.
For instance, for my 30th birthday card, I added the number 30 with candles on it. The end product that you get here can be tweaked as per your requirements.
Sharing Options
Invest not only lets you share the file online but also allows you to have it printed out. You don’t even have to save it and then share it individually with your friends and family.
The app itself allows you to share it on different social platforms and instant messaging apps. For printouts, you can choose the page layout and have it printed as well.
Ratings and Compatibility
Invest has a pretty strong rating of 4.5 on the App Store. The app requires iOS 13.0 or later to work on iPhone and iPod Touch and needs MacOS 11.0 or later to work on a Mac. I use the app on an iPhone 12, and it works like a charm for me.
Price
While the basic features of Invyt are free to use and the app doesn’t cost you anything to download it, you need to pay for the more advanced features such as getting access to some special premium templates. Also, when you get the Invyt Pro subscription, you get an ad-free experience on the app.
The app has three tiers of subscription:
- Lifetime: $24.99
- Yearly: $19.99
- Weekly: $3.99
2. Canva
What can I tell you about Canva that you haven’t probably heard already? This is the ultimate design solutions app when it comes to making cards and invitations of any kind. That is just one aspect of Canva and the app goes far beyond just these designs.
Here’s a closer look at Canva where I specifically talk about its use as an invitation-making app.
Key Feature
Canva’s core strength, when it comes to creating invitations, lies in customizations. The app offers a huge bank of templates and an infinite number of customization options. It also allows you to create a template from scratch.
Furthermore, unlike many other apps that create only static posts, you can also create animated invitations on Canva. You can insert your photographs and elements, and even edit them to look a certain way – without ever having to leave the Canva app.
UI and Design
Canvas UI is excellent. The app has a lot of features – but the UI has been developed in such a way that you will never get lost while navigating through it. I’d rate it very highly.
Another aspect where I rate Canva very highly is ease of use. The app has been around for quite a while and has gone through multiple changes – each making it more user-friendly.
Templates
When I searched for ‘invitations’ on Canva, the app showed me a collection of over 30,000 designs to pick and choose from. You can find pretty much any type of invitation card here right from baby showers to bachelorettes, and from weddings to funerals. Canva’s got your back on all occasions.
Customization Options
Customization is Canva’s biggest strength. Every visual element here can be tweaked around – from the background and the border to the images, other decorative elements, and the text. There are a ton of options available when it comes to the fonts as well.
Pricing
A lot of what Canva offers is available for free, but to get access to their premium templates, fonts, and other elements, you will need to pay for Canva Pro – which costs $14.99 monthly, or $119.99 yearly. You can also buy Canva Credits to pay for certain elements if you don’t want to pay the month’s fee.
3. Punchbowl: Invitations & Cards
Punchbowl is a great app for those who not only want to send out online invitations but also to track them. The app allows you to create an invitation and share it over mail or messages, and it gives you quite a few customization options too. Punchbowl allows you to track RSVP responses and Potluck lists as well, which is a feature I love.
Key Feature
While most other apps only allow you to invite people to your event, Punchbowl takes things one step forward by allowing you to track the recipient’s response. The app lets you send out RSVP requests and alerts you when a guest confirms or declines. This interactivity and tracking feature makes planning easier. This is also a fun app in case you’re hosting a potluck event as you can easily make lists and check who’s bringing what.
UI and Design
In terms of UI and design, this app performs well. This app has two primary functions – creating and sending invitations, and tracking invitations. It does both of them pretty well. Sometimes an app like Canva can get overwhelming because of too many features. Here, you get only what you need.
Templates
When you look at the templates available on Punchbowl, the app carries thousands of options for sending out invitations. These range from basic category-based templates such as Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. to specially curated ‘handmade art’ themes, as well as feature characters that kids love and appreciate, based on Marvel, Disney, and other similar franchises.
Customization Options
There are many customization options on this app. These include the basic text and font edits, as well as a higher detail of personalization such as adding photos from your camera roll and adding other visual elements custom to the event that you are creating the invitation for.
Pricing
Punchbowl is free to use and download for basic purposes. However, you might want to check out their Plus and Premium subscriptions for features such as adding video messages, collaborations, polls, etc. Plus subscriptions cost $5.99 a month and a yearly pack costs $47.88 per year. There’s a Premium subscription at $24.99 a month/$ 71.88 per year, and a Platinum subscription at $34.99 a month and $95.88/per year.
4. Poply: Party Invitation Maker
Poply is the ultimate party management app. As someone who started by searching for apps for creating an invitation for my birthday party, I tried out Poply and was very happy with it. The app does much more than just create invitations.
Key Feature
Poply offers all sorts of party-management features, right from creating invitations to sending out RSVP invites, sending invitations straight from the phonebook, and allows you to track the status of your invitations. There’s also a widget that you can use on your home and lock screens where you can see the status of your invitations.
UI and Design
Design-wise, I found Poply to be a very neat and smooth app. Again, unlike Canva, there’s only one thing that this app does – and it does it well. Creating and tracking invitations on Poply is pretty easy too, and can be done in just a few taps. Lastly, I want to proclaim my love for the widgets feature by once again pointing out how useful it is!
Templates
The app offers several template options for different kinds of parties – be it weddings, birthdays, baby showers, or any other similar event that you can think of. However, the ability to customize them and the number of templates itself is a little on the lower side when compared to some other major apps. I do like the feature where you can set the color scheme for every different event.
Pricing
Poply comes with a basic free plan where you can do a limited number of things. However, there are two premium options as well, where you can send out invitations to one event for a one-time purchase of $14.99, or get an unlimited event subscription for $8.99 a month. In this premium plan, you’ll get more customization options as well.
5. Evite: Party Invitation Maker
Evite is an app that allows you to send some funky-looking invitations for different sorts of events. From birthdays to weddings, you can create and customize your invitations with ease with this app. I like the kind of animations they have, as they give a real celebratory feel to the whole thing.
Key Feature
Evite allows you to make online invitations for different kinds of events, but their best feature for me was the ability to customize everything – right from the animations to the elements on the screen, there’s no limits to what you can’t tweak here. I also appreciate Evite’s RSVP tracking feature.
UI and Design
There’s nothing complex about Evite. The app allows you to decide on what kind of invite you want to make, what templates you want, and what changes you want to make in a few quick steps. You can then simply add guests from your contact list, or add some people who already use Evite. Their ease of use makes it user-friendly for users of all age groups.
Templates
Evite offers you hundreds of templates for every kind of party, and each of these templates can be further customized based on your unique needs. They also have a feature where you can include images into the invite straight from your camera roll.
For instance, if it’s a wedding, you can add photographs of the couple. If it’s a birthday, you can add a photograph of yourself in a party cap, etc. Each element of the template is editable right from visual add-ons to fonts to colors.
Pricing
Evite is free to use for basic tasks, but an Evite Pro subscription allows you to get the most out of the app. This includes invitations without ads, the ability to add up to 2,500 guests in an event, and much more. Evite Pro costs $249.99 for the year, or $79.99 for 3 months.
6. Invitation Maker Studio
Invitation Maker Studio is an app that allows you to design invitations and cards for different occasions. The app is fairly simple to use and comes only with one intent – allowing you to design different sorts of invitations and greeting cards. This is a no-nonsense app and one that I like for its minimalism.
Key Feature
The biggest strength of this app is its UI, but more on that in the next section. Invitation Maker Studio gives you numerous customization options and has templates for everything from birthday parties to holiday greetings. The app also makes it very easy for you to edit elements.
UI and Design
This is the strongest feature of Invitation Maker Studio. The design of this application is extremely simple and it allows you to navigate through different features and options with great ease. There’s no way that you can get lost in this app, and there’s never too much on your screen.
Every frame has a specific function, and while you’re there, you get a distraction-free work environment. The app is quite intuitive and easy to use. Invitation Maker Studio supports multiple languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic, Greek, Japanese, and Korean.
Templates
There are thousands of templates available on the app, including those for major and minor occasions ranging from birthdays, weddings, and baby showers to holiday greetings and cards thanking people. You can even create RSVP templates, as well as edit every aspect of your design to suit your custom needs.
The whole process is also very simple, and the app keeps providing you with updates which makes editing an easier process. They recently added an undo button on the app, which has been received very well by the users.
Pricing
While the free version gives you a good amount of customization and control, getting the Premium version of this app will give you an ad-free experience, as well as help you get rid of the watermarks.
I hate watermarks, and for me, this is a big reason for getting premium. Lastly, you also get access to over 5,000 card designs when you buy the premium subscription. Premium costs $2.99 a month or $23.99 a year.
7. Hub App | Party Invite & RSVP
The Hub app is named so because it is quite literally a hub where you find multiple party-management features in one place. When I used it, I found it to be quite useful not just for parties and other major events, but even for smaller gatherings and office events.
This is a multipurpose app and you truly need to download it to experience it in all its might.
Key Feature
The app lets you control multiple aspects of the event you’re hosting. Right from scheduling the event to having people vote on various things, Hub does it all.
I also love the fact that Hub lets me set dress codes and even allows me to control whether the guest list is public or private. This is a complete event management app and not just one for parties.
UI and Design
The UI and the design of the Hub app are pretty modern. It uses all the latest visual standards and is appealing to the eye. However, there’s still some scope for making it easier to use.
At times when I was going through it, it seemed like there was just too much to do here which got a little overwhelming for me. Another quick feature that I loved was the ability to add the event straight to the guests’ calendars when they accept it.
Templates
In terms of templates and customizations, Hub doesn’t score much because this app isn’t designed to send out a greeting or an invitation for an occasion but is meant more for the organization of events. There’s not much to say about that here, you should install the app and check it out.
Pricing
Hub is free to use. There are no in-app purchases and there are no subscriptions.
