There’s something about witchcraft and the occult that piques human interest. While I do not endorse any sort of superstition, it is fun to indulge in a little bit of supernatural. Witch apps are a great resource for spells, notes, rituals, and more.
For the past three weeks, I have spent an abnormally large amount of time exploring these. It makes me think, what if the whole year was Spooktober?
Before we head further, I’d like to mention that these applications make for great fun at stayovers and night-outs. So, without further delay, let’s get into it.
Top 10 Witchy Apps of 2023
List Overview: While some of these apps provide spells and rituals as well as potions and herbs, others tell you about crystals and their occult benefits. Then some apps help you read Tarot cards, as well as learn the Wiccan ways. I have tried to make this list as richly diverse as possible.
1. Best Overall: Witchcraft & Wicca Spells
The key to being a good witch is knowing all the best spells. However, when you think of witchcraft, you need to go beyond the idea of ‘I’ll turn you into a frog’. There are many positive and uplifting spells out there, which is what this application is all about.
From enhancing one’s beauty to promoting self-love and from spells that cleanse auras to spells that break other evil spells, this app covers it all.

- Contains hundreds of Wiccan spells and rituals
- Details about special Wiccan occasions
- Podcasts and books that keep you up to date
- Bookmarking feature for easy access
- Offline access to content glossary
- Respects user privacy and ensure data security
2. Best for Moon Calendar: Moonly
As a witch or practitioner, you need to stay alert about the moon and its phases. Different phases of the moon: no-moon nights and full-moon nights have a special significance in witchcraft, and what better than this app to guide you about them?
My favorite feature of Moonly is the Lunar Calendar because of the great detail it goes into. I also believe that the ‘Daily Affirmations’ section is quite a positive influence, and I felt nice about myself after using it.
Key Features
- Complete lunar calendar that helps you track the moon
- Sleep affirmations help you sleep better
- Provides articles, tips, and other wisdom
- Has tarot card reading feature
- Offers a dream interpretation feature
- Comprehensive guide to crystals
3. Best Herbalism App: Wicca Herbalism Guide
If you aspire to be a witch, one of the most important things that you need to be aware of is the potions and the herbs that you require.
What I liked about this app is that it provides detailed information about a large variety of herbs from their history and origin to their use in the Wiccan arts.
Key Features
- Available in multiple languages
- Detailed insight into different herbs with chemicals they carry
- Provides an insight into the history of witchcraft
As much as herbs and potions thrill me, the UI of this app puts me off. It looks very outdated and reminds you of the early days of the Internet.
Noticeably, the amount of detail and effort that the app-maker has put into research is commendable.
I found some really rare herbs here, which I had never even heard of. There are herbs from all over the planet mentioned here – each carrying its unique benefit in the world of witchcraft.
4. Best Astrology App: TimePassages
Witchcraft goes way beyond spells and potions. It is also about astrology and tracking the movement of the stars and the moon. TimePassages is one of the best apps for this purpose.
As someone who has already dabbled in astrology for a while, I liked it. However, I also believe that if you’re a beginner, there’s a lot that you can learn from TimePassages.
Key Features
- You can create birth charts using this app
- TimePassages lets you compare current transits with your birth chart
- Provides latest charts of current astrology
TimePassages has been around for over 25 years now, first as a website and now as an app. It is a very credible and trusted name when it comes to astrology.
I also love the feature that it allows you to compare charts to measure compatibility. That’s one of my favorite features here. I’m also a big fan of this app’s simple and easy-to-navigate UI.
5. Best for Crystals: Crystalyze
Understanding of crystals and precious stones has been a central component of both, witchcraft and the Wiccan arts, as well as astrology.
Crystalyze is just the perfect app for you to know everything about Crystals and their importance. For me, the most fascinating part was their vast collection – this app’s got over 140 crystals listed.
Key Features
- You can add and track the crystals you own
- You can track the moon and align your crystals based on the lunar cycle
- Gives a detailed description and use case for over 140 crystals
Crystals are very important for their healing properties. They go beyond witcraft and into the realm of Reiki and other faith healing practices.
I found Crystalyze to be a great app to provide me with detailed information about these crystals and how to use them correctly. Lastly, this app also scores well on the ease of use aspect.
6. Best for Spells: WitchCraft Spell
When one thinks of witchcraft, the first thing that probably comes to mind is spells. This is the app for all your spell needs.
It’s fun to try out with your friends, as it lists down all the ingredients you’ll need to cast a spell, as well as how to cast it. There are various categories of spells on this app, and you can pick and choose the ones that you need.
Key Features
- Gives you a detailed insight into all the spells, along with the ingredients required
- Allows you to download some spells and save them for future use
- Gives detailed casting instructions for each spell
When it comes to spells in witchcraft, people often think of evil spells or curses. However, there are many uplifting and positive spells, which boost your self-confidence and help you with day-to-day activities.
Want to get over an ex? Cast a spell. Want to focus better on your reading? Cast a spell! This app has got them all. Do check out the categories section to get an insight into the different kinds of spells available here.
7. Best for Spirituality: Sage’s Advice
Entering the Wiccan world is finding yourself among wise men and women. Sage’s Advice is an app that acts as a spiritual guide to you. The ‘Sage’ on the app has answers to many important and spiritual questions in life.
If you feel stuck or lack motivation at any point in time, you can approach Sage. I found the app to be interactive and the advice to be sane.
Key Features
- Provides answers to questions about spirituality
- A spiritual expert has written answers
- Provides daily sage wisdom and motivational quotes
I am not the biggest fan of this app’s UI, but it does what it seeks to do. There’s a box where you insert your questions, and you get your answers.
It is a simple application that even first-time users will be able to navigate through easily. I also like the daily wisdom feature, which gives one quote every day, which was a beautiful addition to my day. I still use this app for this reason.
8. Best for Tarot Card Reading: Labyrinthos Tarot
As someone who didn’t know anything about Tarot Cards, I found this app cool. I had only seen Tarot Card readers at fairs and in movies. But this app opened a whole new perspective for me.
Not only does this app give you a Tarot reading, but it can also teach you how to read Tarot Cards.
Key Features
- Provides free Tarot Readings
- You can track your physical readings on this app by logging them in the journal
- Multiple Tarot decks that you can choose from
Like most other apps on this list, Labyrinthos Tarot Reading is also a pretty simple app. There’s not too much to do here, but the one task it deals with, it deals with it well.
The animations are smooth, the reading is detailed, and you can choose different aspects of your life and get Tarot Readings about them. All in all, a good app for Tarot enthusiasts.
9. Best Glossary: Witchtok App
As someone who is a novice in the world of Witchcraft and the Wiccan arts, I found WitchTok to be quite a saviour. This app acts as a glossary. It gives a detailed account of different ingredients that are used in witchcraft and also explains what are they used for.
Key Features
- Great app for new witches to check their ingredients
- Provides a detailed description of each ingredient used by witches
- Also provides a use case for each of these ingredients listed on the app
There’s nothing much that I can say about this app. The UI, to be honest, is terrible. It looks like one of those websites from the early days of the internet.
However, the app does what is needed of it. It provides a long list of ingredients and tells you the purpose that they serve.
10. Best Rune Magic App: Runic Formulas & Book of Runes
Runes, which are ancient alphabets, letters, and symbols, are very important when it comes to practising witchcraft. Any witch who wants to shine in the world of witchcraft and wizardry needs to be well-versed with Runes. Runic Formulas is probably the best app out there for everything related to Runes.
Key Features
- Learn how to read and decipher Runes
- Helps you translate English sentences into Runes
- You can even create your own Runes formulas using this app
Runes represent an ancient Pagan system that is slowly disappearing from the world that we live in. However, this app keeps the memory and the knowledge alive. For anyone who wants to learn magic, Runes is the alphabet that you must know. The app’s UI is pretty smooth, and it is easy to use too.
Scores big points from me, as this is an app that I still refer to from time to time.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can use these apps to learn the spells, potions, and ways of the occult and try and practice with your friends. These are often for fun and provide a spooky experience when you use them. Additionally, some experts find witchcraft apps to be gimmicky.
Yes, they are safe to use. If you believe in witchcraft, it enriches you by teaching you new things. If you’re not a believer, you can use them to just play around and enjoy the supernatural, spooky feeling they bring.
You don’t have to pay to install them, but to get access to some premium features, or some special categories in the app, you might need to pay a subscription or a one-time purchase fee.
These apps aren’t designed for real magic. They’re designed for fun at gatherings. However, some of these apps do delve into tarot cards and crystals – which some people do have a strong faith in.
Wrap Up!
From Wanda from Marvel to Hermione from Harry Potter, and Witches have always caught the fantasy of a large bunch of people all over the world.
As I mentioned earlier, I don’t promote superstition, it can be quite a fun experience to sit around with a bunch of friends late in the night and pretend to be creatures of the dark.
