Whether you are managing inventory and food supplies at home or in a warehouse, tally counters are important when it comes to keeping track of things. Especially things that move up or down at an incremental pace.
So far, you’d have done it on a sheet of paper, but you can now digitize it with the help of apps. I have found them pretty convenient even when it comes to managing my daily exercise routine.
They can even be beneficial when you’re throwing a party and need to keep a count of the number of each item you want.
As a professional event manager, I have tried out various apps over the past few years. It is based on this experience of mine that I have distilled it down to the five absolute best tally counting apps of all time on the App Store.
1. Best of All: Tally Counter
There are many apps on the App Store, but what makes this one special is the fact that you can customize everything here.
This is one of my absolute favorite app features, as it allows me to change not just the color and the name of the counters but also the layout and the visual appearance. You can modify the look and feel of this app based on your needs.
This is an extremely easy app to use and comes with a bunch of features that make it pretty useful for tracking stuff. Be it scores, gym reps, or just inventory at your workplace, Tally Counter has your back.
Here are some key features of this app:
Multiple Counters
This app makes use of multiple counters on one screen, so you can keep count of various things and inventory on a single screen. You can also scroll through them and increase or decrease the count in one glance.
Most apps impose restrictions on the number of counters, as well as the maximum count. Here, there are no such restrictions once you pay for the premium, you can add as many counters as you like.
From my experience, I found paying for the premium version worth my money.
Easy Counting Mechanism
Increasing the count on the counter is very simple here. All you need to do is to tap on the plus button, and voila. All it takes is a matter of seconds and your inventory is updated.
Customization
I liked the customization option in the app. You can color code the counters for easy visual reference, and you can also edit and change the text on the counter.
Easy Export
The app allows you to export the data from the counters into different formats, which you can use on your spreadsheets or docs for a detailed tracking summary.
Easy To Use
Although there is no rocket science in using a tally counter app, creating and handling multiple counters can be tricky. However, while using this app, I found no issue maintaining and visualizing my various counters. The User Interface is great, even for first-time users.
There are many tally counter and tracking apps out there on the app store, but none of them feature all of these features in one place.
Apart from these features, you also get daily, weekly, and monthly insights on your inventory here, which is every store manager’s favorite feature! Add to that the ability to export your data, and that’s a winning combination right here.
Inventory managers would agree that it makes keeping track of data much easier. You also have access to your past inventories.
Be it the warehouse stocks and supplies details or the pills you have to take in the day, just add them here and click on the ‘plus’ button every time you want to increment the counter by one. It is as simple as that!
After a few days of use, you’ll get addicted to this app, which will help you keep track of your day-to-day needs easily.
2. Best Runner-Up: Counter Tally Count
If you want a simple, easy-to-use, and no-nonsense tally counter for your daily needs, look no further than this Counter Tally Count. The key highlight of this app is the ease with which this app can be used.
There are literally just two things you need to do here: add what you need to track and keep incrementing it. This app is also a pretty good option for elderly users, as it comes with quite a few accessibility features as well.
In case the user is visually impaired, the app can even speak out the tally count.
Key Features
- Easy to use: the app’s UI is easy to navigate.
- You can customize the order and the increment count.
- Unlimited counters for tally count tracking.
- Supports a widget on the home screen.
- Allows exporting the data to CSV files.
3. Best with Widgets: Tally Counter & Number Tracker
If you are looking for an app that you can customize based on your needs, this has to be it! Tally Counter & Number Tracker is an app that’s got everything when it comes to customization!
All the way from colors-coding the thing you want to track to different app icons. You’ve got it right here. The app has an easy-to-use interface and also comes with a detailed history of your counter.
I tried this app when I was hitting the gym regularly, as I could color-code different types of exercises and ensure I had performed all of them.
Key Features
- Add notes to your tracking.
- Allows exporting data to CSV.
- Supports iCloud sync for easy tracking.
- Can be used for MacOS and Apple Watch as well.
- A dark mode which is easy on the eyes.
4. Best for Left-Handed Users: Counter +
Counter+ is the perfect app for you if you are looking for something that is minimalist in nature. The app offers you just the tracking features and nothing else. It is extremely easy to use and you can start tracking in just a single tap after opening this app.
The app allows you to color-code different counters for easy visual identification. My personal favorite feature about this app is the ‘lefty mode‘ which makes it easy to count things for left-handed people such as me.
Besides that, you can also choose to see either one counter at a time or multiple counters. You can also check out the history of individual counters to keep track of your inventory over time.
Key Features
- Customize the name and increment value of each counter.
- Color-code counters for easy identification.
- Track the history of each individual counter.
- Sound and vibration support for counters.
- A special mode for left-handed users.
5. Best for Sports: Tally Counter – Digital Counter
The Simply Tally Counter app is a good option for people who are looking for a bare-bones app that allows them to track without any distractions.
There are no visual flairs here and there are hardly any customization options that you get on this app. The app is minimalist to the extent that it looks like it’s lacking in features. You can tap on the screen to increase the count.
You can also set a subtract button if you need it. I found this to be a very good app for tracking scores and laps at sports events but that is pretty much the extent of usability of this app for me.
Key Features
- Minimalist UI: distraction-free usage.
- One-tap tally counting.
- Reset the counter in one click.
- Add a subtract button in case you need it.
- Good for tracking scores at a sport or athletic event.
Wrap Up!
That’s it for tally counters on iOS. These apps help you keep a smarter track of things rather than doing it with pen and paper. It is also just easier to log things rather than to remember them.
I use these regularly in my gym to ensure I do all the required reps that my trainer has instructed me to. You must have one of these on your iPhone if you are a store or inventory manager. I hope this list helps.
