Is your Apple Cash linked to the wallet? Do you want to remove it? You’re in the right place. Whether you’ve shifted to some other payment option or you want to disable it temporarily, this article has got you covered.
By following this guide, you can protect your money and declutter your digital Wallet by turning off the Apple Cash. Follow the simple steps below:
- Go to settings on your phone.
- Look for the “Wallet & Apple Pay” menu.
- Here, turn off the “Apple Cash” option.
- Confirm on the pop-up and you will need to authenticate yourself with your Apple ID password.
Important Note: Turning off Apple Cash won’t close your Apple Pay account. Any payments you may have set up may continue. If you wish to completely close it, transfer the remaining balance to your bank account. Below is how.
Transferring Apple Cash To Bank Account
- Open the Apple Wallet app.
- Tap on the Apple Cash card image followed by the More (…) button on the top right corner.
- On the pop-up menu, tap on the “transfer to bank” option.
- Enter the entire remaining amount (make it zero), and then tap on Next.
- If you can wait for your money to credit, click on the “1-3 business days” option. Or if you need an instant transfer, tap on the “instant transfer” option. You’ll be charged a $0.25 fee for it.
- Tap on the “Transfer” button to confirm and provide the relevant TouchID, FaceID, or passcode to complete.
- Once the amount is received in your chosen bank account, request Apple Cash Support to delete the Apple Pay account.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
When it comes to payments and card setups, it could be quite tricky, especially if you have set up recurring payments or in case your card provider requires two-factor authentication.
There could be some common issues as well while you try to remove Apple Cash from the wallet. Here are some of them:
- Network: In a poorly connected area, your device may take longer than usual to perform simple tasks like turning off Apple Cash. Just to be double-sure, check the settings again and confirm the changes you made.
- Glitch: Older phones or phones with close to full storage tend to crash most apps including the Settings app. If your Settings or Wallet app crashes down while you are performing the aforementioned changes, try rebooting your phone and doing it again.
- Menu Changes: There could be different menu options or different names of the options. This could be because you are using an older version of the iOS. Update your phone with the latest version of iOS to have the same options in all the menus as explained on the support page.
- Apple Cash Family: Turning off Apple Cash does not have any effect on your overall Apple Cash account. If you close your Apple Cash account as an organizer then all the remaining balances from the family members’ accounts will be transferred to your account. If you are closing your Apple Cash account as a member then your remaining balance will go to the organizer’s account.
- Recurring Payments: Turning off Apple Cash does not have any impact on the recurring payments you may have set up on any of your cards or through any other methods. Note that if you wish to stop the recurring payments, you may have to do it manually.
- Daily Cash: While turning off Apple Cash won’t affect your daily cash balance, closing your account will transfer all your accumulated Daily Cash towards your Apple Card balance.
- Authentication: You may get asked to authenticate yourself with Apple ID. Entering the wrong password could prevent you from turning off Apple Cash. You may have to remember or retrieve your password and perform the changes after some time in that case.
Frequently Asked Questions
You have to contact Apple Support for that. Open the Wallet App on your iPad or iPhone. Select Apple Cash Card. Tap on the three dots (…) and select “Details”. Select “Contact Apple Support” and then select “Call”.
You cannot remove Apple Pay if you have any subscriptions, have any dues (unpaid balance) or if you are sharing your purchases with others. You have to either keep a payment method on or cancel or hide your subscriptions, pay your dues and close the sharing to remove Apple Pay.
You cannot delete transactions on a Cash app without deleting the Cash App account. You can download transaction history by logging in to your Cash App from a browser and then deleting your Cash App account. This will remove all your transactions along with removing your Cash App account.
Wrap Up!
Apple Cash is a great way of making payments. But with so many integrations and rising security threats, it is only fair if we wish to make your payments simplified and if you do not wish to add any digital layers to it.
The process is pretty straightforward and chances are you may not have to go beyond the good old Settings app.
